Even though many of the huge climbing kilns ended up wood burning, there are lots of different types of wood-burning kiln.  They range from big anagama kilns, to tiny igloo-formed brick kilns built by person potters within their back again garden. Then the whole building is encased within an iron jacket that supports and safeguards the chamber.
